Earth Systems is expanding its technical capability across Latin America and is seeking an Environmental Engineer / Scientist with strong experience in geochemistry, water quality and hydrology.
This is a Hybrid role for professionals based in Latin America, working with our regional team in Colombia and Earth Systems’ global specialists across Australia, the United Kingdom, Africa, Asia and Latin America.
The role is suited to a technically strong, bilingual professional who wants to work on complex environmental projects, contribute to high-quality technical delivery, and be part of a global team focused on practical environmental, water and sustainability solutions.

About the Role
The successful candidate will support environmental projects for public and private sector clients across Latin America and internationally.
The work will include technical inputs for mining, infrastructure, water and environmental assessment projects, with a focus on:
Environmental geochemistry
Water quality
Hydrology and hydrogeology
Mine waste, tailings and waste rock
Acid and Metalliferous Drainage / Acid Rock Drainage — AMD / ARD
Surface water and groundwater assessment
Environmental and Social Impact Assessments — ESIAs
Baseline studies and impact assessments
Environmental monitoring
Mine closure planning
Geo-environmental risk assessment

What You Will Do
In this role, you will support Earth Systems’ LATAM and global teams with:
Analysing and interpreting water quality and geochemistry datasets.
Preparing technical inputs for geochemical assessments, ESIAs, baseline studies and mine closure plans.
Supporting assessment and management of AMD / ARD risks.
Assisting with field investigations, including rock, water and soil sampling.
Coordinating with analytical laboratories and supporting QA/QC of environmental data.
Preparing maps, figures, tables and technical visualisations.
Supporting data management and use of Earth Systems’ internal technical tools, including AMDact.
Preparing high-quality technical reports, proposal inputs and client-ready deliverables.
Working with multidisciplinary teams across Latin America and internationally.
Supporting continual improvement of technical workflows, templates and analytical systems.
Travelling for project work across Latin America and internationally when required.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a professional with:
A degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, geology, geochemistry, hydrology, hydrogeology, earth sciences, environmental chemistry, mining or a related discipline.
At least 2 years of relevant experience, or postgraduate studies in environmental geoscience, environmental modelling, water quality, environmental engineering, mining or a related field.
Strong technical capability in geochemistry, water quality, hydrology, hydrogeology, geology, environmental science or mining-related environmental management.
Understanding of AMD / ARD assessment and management.
Strong data analysis, interpretation and reporting skills.
Experience with environmental fieldwork, sampling and multidisciplinary project delivery.
High attention to detail and the ability to produce technically robust work.
Ability to work remotely with international teams across different time zones.
Commercial awareness and the ability to support proposals and client-facing deliverables.
Willingness to travel across Latin America and internationally when required.
Language Requirements
This role requires native-level Spanish and excellent written and spoken English.
Candidates must be able to:
Write professional technical reports in English.
Communicate confidently with international teams and clients.
Prepare emails, proposal inputs, presentations and project documentation in English.
Work fluently in Spanish with local teams, consultants, regulators, field teams and regional stakeholders.
CVs must be submitted in English.
Interviews will be conducted in both English and Spanish.
Candidates who cannot demonstrate strong written and spoken English will not be considered.
Experience That Will Be Highly Regarded
Additional experience in any of the following areas will be valuable:
MSc, PhD, DPhil or other postgraduate qualification.
PhreeqC, GoldSim, QGIS or other geochemical, water quality, GIS or environmental modelling tools.
Geochemical or water quality process modelling.
Mine closure, mine waste management, tailings, waste rock or mining environmental compliance.
GISTM and mine closure obligations in Latin America.
International standards, lender requirements, IFC Performance Standards or mining-sector environmental studies.
Laboratory coordination, QA/QC and large environmental datasets.
Andean mining, lithium, salares, brines, groundwater, water balance or mining-related water systems.
Technical figures, maps, dashboards, tables and client-facing reports.
Improvement of technical workflows, environmental data systems and internal tools.
Location
This is a LATAM-based role.
Candidates may be based in Colombia, Chile, Peru, Argentina, Ecuador, Brazil, Mexico, Central America or another Latin American country, provided they can work effectively with international teams and travel when required.
